Welcome to the
Nubian Archaeological Project.
We
are a U.S. based organization dedicated to
the study and preservation of ancient Nubia's rich history, culture,
and archaeological legacy.
The
Nubian Archaeological Project is led by Nubia
Wardford. Nubia has been offered a scholarship from the University of
Khartoum for the Masters and Doctorate program in archaeology. The
field study portion will take place at the Sacred Cities of Ancient
Nubia. Dr. Anderson Thompson, who has formed a partnership with the
Nubian Archaeological School of Sudan and the University of Khartoum,
established the initial contact. The archaeological team will be
composed of continental Africans and African Americans. Read more...
Ancient
Nubia, in modern Sudan, is the area
where many of the foundations of civilization were developed. There has
been very little excavation and study of this area and now the area is
in danger of being totally destroyed by flooding as a result of the
construction of dams. The project has now become an emergency recovery
effort, as well as a salvation project. The artifacts excavated will be
studied then returned to Sudan to arrange a traveling exhibition to
raise money for the archaeological school in Sudan. Monies raised will
be used for all travel, research, equipment, supplies and excavations
of the Sacred Cities of Ancient Nubia.
